BASEBALL DROPS TUESDAY CONTEST AT HOFSTRA, 4-1

HEMPSTEAD, NYJD Andreessen (Depew, NY/Lancaster/Campbell) hit his team-leading fourth home run of the season, but Monmouth University Baseball (11-18-1) dropped a Tuesday afternoon contest at Hofstra University (6-21), 4-1.

Austin Pollack homered leading off the game to give Hofstra a 1-0 lead before Tyler Ksiazek (South Abington Township, PA/Abington Heights) settled in, striking out seven in his four innings of work. Austin Gauthier made it 2-0 Pride with a two-out double in the sixth, and Parker Quinn's infield single extended it to a 3-0 game. Andreessen took the first pitch of the eighth inning out of the yard for his fourth long ball of the year, but Miles Mensah drove in a run with a base hit in the eighth to make it 4-1, the final score.

NOTES AND QUOTES

-Andreessen now leads MU with four home runs.
-Five different Hawks accounted for the five MU hits.
-The Hawks fall to 8-3 all time against Hofstra.

-MU pitching struck out 12, the eighth time this season the staff has hit double digits in a game and seventh time in the last nine contests.

NUMBERS CRUNCH
-MU was outhit 11-5.
-Each team left nine runners on base.
-Ksiazek took the loss, allowing a run on four hits with seven K's through four.
-Mark Faello picked up his first win of the season for Hofstra with five shutout innings.
-Daniel Page earned the save with a scoreless ninth.
