WEST LONG BRANCH, NJ – Monmouth University Baseball (11-16-1, 2-3) dropped both ends of a doubleheader to Marist College (12-16, 3-2) on Saturday, falling 6-5 in 11 innings before dropping a 6-1 decision.

In Game One, Clay Koniencki (Schwenksville, PA/Malvern Prep) singled home the first run of the game after three MU first-inning hits to put the Hawks on top. Marist responded with runs in three consecutive innings, including an RBI single and a two-run homer from Tyler Kapuscinski and a solo shot off the bat of Frankie Gregoire to lead 4-1. The Blue and White got one back in the fifth on Zach Schild's (Lincroft, NJ/Middletown South) opposite field single, but Randy Tavares singled that run back across for the visitors in the seventh to make it 5-2. The Hawks mounted their comeback in the seventh, with JP Walsh (Spring Brook Township, PA/North Pococo) doubling home a run and coming around on an error before Koniencki lined his third hit to left to tie the game. The score was even until the 11^th, when Anthony Lazar came home on a wild pitch to make it 6-5 Marist, the final score.

Marist jumped to a 2-0 lead in the second game, with Taveras collecting a sacrifice fly before Gregoire doubled home a second tally. Matt Graber (Newton, MA/Dexter) followed a Robbie Holmes (Bernardsville, NJ/Bernards) base hit in the second to score him and trim it to 2-1, but a pair of home runs from Lazar in consecutive innings put Marist on top to stay, eventually winning 6-1.

Game One
-Kyle Norman had four hits, the most in a game this season and third game as a Hawk with four or more hits.
-JP Walsh posted his seventh multi-hit game of the season.
-Zach Schild now has 10 multi-hit games and leads the Hawks with 27 RBI's.
-Clay Koniencki posted his first three-hit game since 3/4/17 vs. Rhode Island.
-MU did not commit an error for the eighth time this season.

Game Two
-Kyle Norman had a team-high 23-game on base streak snapped.
-Robbie Holmes has now reached base in 17 games in a row.
-Matt Graber drove in a run for the third time in his last four starts.

NUMBERS CRUNCH

Game One
-MU outhit Marist 13-12.
-The teams combined to leave 24 runners on base.
-MU pitching struck out 11.
-Dan Klepchick struck out five but took his second loss, allowing five runs in 6.2 innings.
-Mason Miller delivered 2.2 shutout innings, allowing just one hit with three K's.
-Regan Dombroski allowed the lead run in the 11^th, taking his first loss of the year.
-Conor McNamara struck out seven in 4.2 shutout relief innings to earn the win for Marist.

Game Two
-Monmouth was outhit 9-2.
-Rob Hensey took his third loss, allowing three runs in three innings.
-Tony Romanelli threw a seven-inning complete game for Marist, allowing a run on two hits.
-Neither team committed an error.
