NOTES AND QUOTES

"Today, Marist came out with a great game plan and disrupted what we like to do. They came out excited and took advantage of some miscues in both games. Offensively, we had some good innings but struggled to push runs across. We're going to take a couple days off and get back to it on Monday. We need to focus on putting ourselves in a good position for the final six MAAC games." - Monmouth head coach Shannon Salsburg

-In game one, Baron led off with a walk but was thrown out on junior Sam Tomasetti's fielder's choice. Wozniak singled to advance Tomasetti, but the Hawks flied out to end the inning.
-Marist scored the game's only runs in the bottom of the second. The Red Foxes led off with a single and was hit by a pitch after a pop up. An RBI single down the left field line made it 1-0, and the other runner advanced to third.

-In game two, Marist loaded the bases with one out in the bottom of the first. After a force out at home, the Red Foxes hit an infield single to go ahead 1-0.
-With an RBI single and another run on a throwing error, Marist took a 3-0 lead.
-The Red Foxes went ahead 4-0 in the bottom of the first after another Monmouth throwing error, this time on a steal attempt.
-Junior Amanda Hopeck led off the top of the second with a single, and Coreth crushed a two-run home run to left field to cut the deficit to 4-2.
-Three straight singles in the bottom of the second gave Marist a 5-2 lead, and the Red Foxes later extended it to 6-2 with a two-out RBI single.
-Back-to-back doubles in the bottom of the fourth gave Marist a 7-2 advantage, and the Red Foxes later scored on an error and hit an RBI double for the 9-2 lead.
-Baron led off the top of the fifth with a solo home run to left field.
-After a Baron single in the top of the seventh, Wozniak launched her fourth home run of the season to left field. The Hawks eventually fell 10-5 after a groundout to end the game.
