NOTES AND QUOTES

"I was very pleased with the way we battled today. Manhattan is a tough place to play, but we did a good job of adjusting and playing our game. Alyssa was attacking their hitters, and we had multiple people with big days. Erika [Coreth] and Amanda [Hopeck] came up with big hits and had outstanding days. It's always nice to see production from top to bottom. We're looking forward to getting right back at it against Saint Peter's tomorrow." -  Monmouth head coach Shannon Salsburg

-In game one, Monmouth got on the board first with a sacrifice fly from Coreth. Hopeck singled earlier in the inning and scored on the play.
-Manhattan tied the game in the bottom of the third. After two singles, the Jaspers scored on a Monmouth fielding error.
-The Hawks regained the lead in the top of the sixth. Freshman Lindsey Baron was hit by a pitch to lead off the inning, and junior Sam Tomasetti sent her to second with a single. Rosado then singled to right field, scoring Baron and putting Monmouth back up 2-1. Harrington later doubled to left field to score sophomore Morgan Maziarz, who pinch ran for Rosado.
-Irons shut the door in the final two innings to seal the win.

-In game two, neither team scored until the fourth inning. Junior Amber Wozniak made it 1-0 in the top half with an RBI single to score Maziarz, and Harrington later hit an RBI single to score Hopeck, who doubled to right center.
-Manhattan answered with three runs in the bottom of the fourth, including a two-RBI triple.
-In the bottom of the fifth, Coreth tied the game at 3-3 with her second home run of the season.
-Hopeck hit her second double of the game in the top of the sixth, and eventually scored the go-ahead run on a Manhattan error.
