JERSEY CITY, NJ – The Monmouth University softball team swept Saint Peter's in two run-rule wins on Sunday afternoon, improving to 11-1 in conference play. Sophomore pitchers Alyssa Irons and Lilly Robles combined for 11 innings and no runs, while the offense totaled 20 hits on the day. Junior Kayla Rosado hit two solo home runs in game one, and junior Amanda Hopeck registered three RBI in game two. Monmouth improves to 26-12 (11-1 MAAC) on the season, and have won 13 of its last 15 games.   
 
NOTES AND QUOTES
 
"It was another strong day for us. I was really pleased with how both pitchers came out, Alyssa and Lilly set the tone. Offensively, we got production from top to bottom. I challenged our team to read the changeups, and we did just that to get on base. -In game one, Rosado started off the scoring with a solo home run to left center with two outs.
-Rosado did it once again in the top of the fourth with another solo home run, this time to center field to put the Hawks up 2-0.
-With two outs in the fourth, sophomore Katie Harrington made it 3-0 with an RBI double to left field to score Hopeck, who singled in the previous at bat.
-After Harrington stole third, she scored on a throwing error by the catcher to make it 4-0.
-Saint Peter's registered its lone hit of the game in the bottom of the fourth with a single.
-In the top of the fifth, freshman Lindsey Baron hit a two-RBI double to left center to score junior Deangie Jimenez and senior Jasmine Higa.
-Junior Sam Tomasetti followed that with an RBI single to score Baron to make it a 7-0 Monmouth advantage.
-With two outs in the top of the fifth, Hopeck ended the game with a double to left center to score pinch runner Morgan Maziarz.
 
-In game two, the Hawks once again got on the board first in the top of the first. Baron and Tomasetti hit back-to-back singles, and Baron later scored after another catcher throwing error on a steal.
-Wozniak made it 2-0 with an RBI single to left center.
-In the top of the third, Hopeck hit an RBI single to right field to score Tomasetti, who led off the inning with a single.
-Higa scored on a Saint Peter's error to make it 4-0, and Jimenez increased the lead to 5-0 with an RBI single.
-With one out and the bases loaded, Maziarz put Monmouth ahead 6-0 in the top of the third.
-In the top of the sixth, Hopeck hit a two-RBI single to center field, scoring Rosado and Baron to make it 8-0.
-Saint Peter's put runners on first and second with no outs in the bottom of the sixth, but Robles got out of the jam to end the game early. 
 
NUMBERS CRUNCH
-In MAAC play, Irons is 8-0 with 59.2 innings pitched and a 0.47 ERA. She has struck out 60 batters in conference play with four complete-game shutouts.
-Irons took sole possession of third place for most wins in program history for a single season (20). The all-time record is 22 set by Donna Witt in 1995.
-Robles improved to 6-2 on the season, including 3-0 in MAAC play.
-The Hawks have won 31 of their last 33 MAAC games including last year's postseason.
-Rosado is batting .514 (19-for-37) in MAAC play with 15 RBI.
-Monmouth improved to 10-1 on Sundays this season.  
-Wozniak has 95 career hits.
-Hopeck went 4-for-7 with four RBI total on the day.

Monmouth will travel to Lafayette for a non-conference doubleheader on Wednesday.
