NOTES AND QUOTES

"We talk a lot about playing well on our home field, and it was nice to set the tone early. Alyssa came out and threw a great game, and I thought our defense was fantastic in both games. From top to bottom, we found ways to push runs across. In game two, Lilly did a nice job of throwing her pitches and forcing them to adjust to her, not vice versa. We're excited to get back to it and welcome Kent State on Tuesday." - Monmouth head coach Shannon Salsburg

-In game one, Monmouth jumped out to an early lead in the bottom of the second. Harrington singled with one out, and eventually got to third after two steals. Jimenez brought her home with an RBI groundout to first base.
-The Hawks piled on three runs in the bottom of the third, getting an RBI single from Rosado and a two-RBI single from Harrington.
-Neither team scored again until the bottom of the sixth, but the Hawks ended the game with four runs to induce the run-rule. Irons hit an infield single, and freshman Danielle Dominik walked to put runners on first and second with no outs. After two straight fly outs, Tomasetti sent a two-RBI double to left center to make it 7-0. Hopeck sealed it with a single up the middle to score Rosado.

-In game two, all of the runs in the game were scored in the bottom of the fourth. Hopeck brought Rosado home with a single, and Jimenez hit a bullet to left field that allowed Wozniak to tag from third.
-Coreth picked up an RBI single to score Hopeck to make it 3-0, and sophomore Morgan Maziarz hit an infield bloop single to score Harrington.
