BASEBALL DROPS MIDDLE GAME AT FLORIDA ATLANTIC

BOCA RATON, FL – JP Walsh (Spring Brook Township, PA/North Pocono) posted his first career four-hit game, but Florida Atlantic (5-6) notched 15 hits on the evening to top Monmouth University Baseball (1-7) on Saturday in Boca Raton, FL by an 11-4 count.

Andru Summerall got the scoring started with a two-run first-inning homer, and Gunnar Lambert's RBI base hit in the second made it 3-0. MU cut it within a run in the third with a pair of unearned runs, but FAU got them right back in the bottom half with three hits and a walk in the inning to lead 5-2. Francisco Urbaez took a 1-2 offering out to left in the fifth for a two-run shot, making it 7-2 Owls.

Monmouth gained ground in the seventh, filling the bases with three singles before Brandon Taylor (North Smithfield, RI/Lasalle Academy) knocked in his first runs of the season, lining a two-run single back through the middle to trim it to 7-4. Four FAU hits in the bottom half, including a Bobby Morgensen leadoff homer and Diamond Johnson's run-scoring double put things out of reach, as FAU took an 11-4 lead, the eventual final.
