NOTES AND QUOTES

"In game one, we just didn't have enough energy. It was hot, and for the first time this year, I didn't think we handled the elements well. We fought back, but didn't do what we needed to, especially with runners in scoring position. Game two was different. Lafayette jumped out to an early lead, but we believed we could come back and take control of the game. Lilly threw well, and battled back when they got hits. Coreth isn't our fastest kid, but was reading pitches very well and proved that you can be a catalyst no matter your speed."  – Monmouth head coach Shannon Salsburg

-In game one against Army, Rosado led off the top of the second with a double. Jimenez walked after two straight outs, and the Hawks grounded out to end the inning.
-The Black Knights scored first in the bottom of the third. A leadoff walk and a stolen base put a runner on second with no outs. She was eventually brought home by a single up the middle.
-In the top of the fifth, Baron launched a home run to left field with two outs, tying the game at 1-1. It was the freshman's second home run in her 15th career game.
-Army regained the lead in the bottom of the sixth, going ahead 3-1 on a two-RBI single to right field.
-The Black Knights retired the Hawks in order in the top of seventh to take the eventual win.
-In game two, Lafayette jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the top of the first with an RBI double and a fielder's choice.
-Monmouth cut the deficit in half in the bottom of the inning. Baron and Harrington registered back-to-back walks. Baron was bumped to third on a Tomasetti fly out, and eventually scored on the throw when Harrington stole second.
-The Hawks took the lead in the bottom of the third with two runs. Coreth singled to right center, advanced to second on a wild pitch, stole third, and scored on a passed ball. Tomasetti later tripled to score Harrington, who walked and stole two bases.
-In the bottom of the fifth, Baron crushed a ball off the wall and rounded the bases for an inside-the-park home run.
-The Hawks put the game out of reach in the bottom of the sixth. Wozniak hit an RBI triple to score Tomasetti, and Monmouth used an RBI groundout from junior Deangie Jimenez and an RBI single from freshman Danielle Dominik to take the 7-2 win.
