Sophomore Lucy Thomas hit the game-winning shot with 4.2 seconds left in overtime, and Monmouth earned a win over Manhattan in the MAAC opener Tuesday, 62-60. The local product took the inbounds pass, turned, and hit a bank shot just inside the free throw line. Thomas ended with a career-high 22 points (8-11 FG) and registered her fifth career double-double with a career-high 13 rebounds. With 9:33 still left in the third quarter, senior Alexa Middleton registered her 12th career double-double. She ended with 16 points and 15 rebounds.
 
SCOUTING THE LOYOLA GREYHOUNDS
The Greyhounds have lost six straight games after defeating FDU on November 13. The team was selected seventh in the Patriot League Preseason Poll after finishing last season with a record of 7-24 (5-13 Patriot). Senior Stephanie Karcz leads the team with 11.9 points per game, 10.0 rebounds per game, 54 steals, and 38 assists. In the win over Monmouth last season, Karcz totaled  12 points, 12 rebounds, 10 steals, and seven assists.
