THE OPENER
Monmouth travels to Bucknell for the 2019-20 season opener on Saturday. The Hawks were selected fifth in the MAAC Preseason Coaches' Poll. Senior Sierra Green was selected to the Preseason All-MAAC First Team, while sophomore Lucy Thomas was named to the Preseason All-MAAC Third Team. Monmouth registered a 14-17 (9-9 MAAC) record last season, advancing to the semifinals for the second time in seven years.
 
SCOUTING THE BUCKNELL BISON
Bucknell lost five seniors to graduation, including three 1,000-point scorers. The Bison were selected third in the 2019-20 Patriot League Preseason Poll, and have gone 64-8 in conference play during the past four seasons, including two Patriot League titles. Senior forward Ellie Mack was one of five to be selected to the Preseason All-Patriot Team after earning First Team honors last season. Bucknell fell to Virginia in its season opener, 84-60.
 
ALL-TIME SERIES VS. BUCKNELL
Bucknell took a 3-2 all-time series lead after winning in West Long Branch last season, 70-32. The Bison shot 50 percent from the floor, and held the Hawks to just 21 percent. Rosa Graham led the team with six points and five steals.
