MEN’S BASKETBALL INKS JACK HOLMSTROM TO NLI

WEST LONG BRANCH, NJ – Monmouth University and Head Coach King Rice have announced the signing of Jack Holmstrom from Rockford, Illinois. Holmstrom is set to join the Hawks for the 2020-21 season.

"We're excited to add a great kid both on and off the court from a great family," said Head Coach King Rice. "I've known his father for a long time, back since I coached him at Illinois State, and we look forward to adding Jack to our program next year."

Holmstrom is a 6'6" left-hander from Illinois, playing his high school ball at Guilford High School. A four-year varsity player for the Vikings, Holmstrom has scored nearly 13 points per game to go with four rebounds and three assists through three seasons. He has posted 12 career games of 20+ points, and netted a career-best 25 points on two occasions as a junior.

He is averaging over 2.5 made triples per game scholastically, and is shooting 45% from downtown. He is on track to net 1,000 points at Guilford, and was an All-Conference selection the past two seasons. He has 48 wins with the Vikings, and 40 more with Quad City Elite on the circuit. He earned All-NIC 10 special mention with Guilford.

Academically, Holmstrom is a member of the National Honor Society and has been named an NIC 10 Student-Athlete multiple times. He garners AP student recognition. Holmstrom is the son of Marissa and Ben Holmstrom. Ben played collegiately for King Rice while Rice was an assistant at Illinois State from 1996-98.

Holmstrom is set to join Monmouth ahead of the 2020-21 season.
