NO. 21 FIELD HOCKEY BLANKS VERMONT, 4-0, IN REGULAR SEASON FINALE

FINAL SCORE
#21 Monmouth  4 (13-4, 5-0 AE)
Vermont 0  (6-10, 1-4 AE)

BURLINGTON, VT – Behind a first-half hat trick from sophomore Annick van Lange (Sint-Job, Belgium / Annuntia Institute) and stifling defense that limited no more than three shots in a quarter, the No. 21 Monmouth University field hockey team earned a 4-0 victory over Vermont, Friday afternoon in the regular season finale.

With the victory, the Hawks' eighth straight win, Monmouth earns the America East's East Division Regular Season Championship outright with a perfect 5-0 record.

Monmouth's offense did its damage over an 18-mintue span between the first and second quarter.  van Lange scored a pair of goals off set corner plays, while the third came off a feed from freshman Yasmin Pratt (Wicklow, Ireland / Kilkenny College HS).  Meg de Lange (Johannesburg, South Africa / St. Mary's Waverley) rocketed a shot that Stefanie Bigler (North Vancouver, BC / Seycove Secondary School) deflected into the high netting which put the Hawks up 2-0 late in the first quarter.

Kate O'Hogan (Dublin, Ireland / Mount Anville Secondary) and Ally Tarantino (Miller Place, NY / Miller Place) combined for the Hawks' fourth shutout of the season.
