NIAGARA UNIVERSITY, NY – The Monmouth University women's soccer team jumped out to an early lead and cruised to a 4-0 victory over Niagara on Saturday afternoon at Niagara Field.
Dana Scheriff (Babylon, NY / Babylon) opened the scoring for Monmouth 13 minutes into the match when she took a one-touch pass from
Lauren Karabin (Wall, NJ / Wall / Brookdale) off a
Sarina Jones (Sicklerville, NJ / Timber Creek) throw in. Scheriff's left footed strike gave Monmouth a lead it would never relinquish.
Jones helped set up Monmouth's second goal as well when she sent a long cross to
Alexa Correa (Ramsey, NJ / Ramsey) for a left-footed blast that she buried with confidence. The Hawks quickly added a third when
Jill Conklin (Toms River, NJ / Toms River East) scored a little more than a minute later in the 33
rd minute.
Monmouth added to its 3-0 halftime lead when
Lexie Palladino (Medford, NJ / Shawnee) scored on a breakaway in the 71
st minute.
