WEST LONG BRANCH, NJ – With a penalty kick goal in the 55
th minute, Lafayette took a 1-0 lead and held on for the win over the Monmouth University men's soccer team Tuesday night. After a ball was sent into the box, the Hawks committed a foul near the six-yard box. Lafayette's Chris Gomez then placed the penalty kick into the right corner for the game-winner. The programs met for the first time since 1984, with the Leopards now taking six of eight games in the series. The Hawks fell to 0-2 on the season, and will look to rebound at Penn on Friday.
