BASEBALL FALLS IN MAAC CHAMPIONSHIP TO CANISIUS

STATEN ISLAND, NY – Monmouth Baseball's 2018 season came to a conclusion on Saturday afternoon, falling in the MAAC Championship round to Canisius, 11-0. MU finishes up the regular season with 30 wins and a regular season championship.

Canisius immediately jumped to a 4-0 lead in the first, putting the first five batters of the game on base. Ryan Stekl delivered the big blow with a three-run double inside the first base bag to clear the bases, and Brett Migliore followed with an RBI ground out to make it 4-0.

The Hawks put two runners on base in the second and fourth innings but were unable to score. Canisius added to the lead in the fifth, scoring three times on a wild pitch, sacrifice fly and an infield single. The Griffs tacked on two more in the sixth to go up 9-0. The Golden Griffins added two more to win 11-0.

NOTES AND QUOTES
"Today we didn't play our best baseball, we got down early and couldn't figure out a way to be as competitive as we would have liked. When you fall into the loser's bracket, you have a small margin of error and that showed today. We tip our hats to Canisius, they're great representatives of the MAAC." – Dean Ehehalt

"Our seniors have had a great career here, and it's the first time we won the MAAC regular season title so that's quite an accomplishment for those guys. Today is the end of some really quality kids' baseball careers and it's been a long ride and a four-year investment of time, so it's tough to see those kids go but we're happy where they have left their mark." - Ehehalt

-Monmouth advanced to the MAAC Championship round for the first time ever.
-The Hawks complete the season with 30 wins for the 11th time in Dean Ehehalt's tenure.
