LOUDONVILLE, NY  –  Despite a 12-1 run by the Hawks to regain the lead in the fourth quarter, Siena scored the final five points of the game and outlasted the Monmouth University women's basketball team on Monday night, 44-41. Senior
Rhaiah Spooner-Knight, who scored 15 points in the contest, hit two free throws to put Monmouth ahead 41-39 with 3:44 remaining. Those would prove to be the Hawks' final points, as sophomore
Kayla Shaw's potential game-tying three-pointer with time expiring hit the front of the rim. Sophomore
Alexa Middleton recorded her fourth career double-double in the loss, totaling 10 points and 11 rebounds. Monmouth falls to 6-16 (4-7 MAAC) on the season, and will return home on Thursday to face Marist for the first of three straight home games.

-Monmouth used a 12-0 run to close to first quarter, and took an 18-10 advantage at the end of one.
-In a low scoring second quarter, Siena outscored Monmouth 9-6. The Hawks till held the lead into halftime, however, at 24-19.
-Siena opened the third quarter on a 6-0 run, and the Hawks did not score their first bucket of the third quarter until there was 5:01 left. Monmouth regained the lead with the score at 26-25.
-The Saints took control in the third quarter, outscoring the Hawks 19-5 in the frame. Heading into the fourth, Siena built its largest lead at 38-29.
-Monmouth opened the fourth quarter on a 10-1 run to tie the game at 39 with 5:52 remaining.
