Katie Baron hit an RBI single to score teammate
Chloe Howerth, but the Eagles kept the game going with a run of their own. The Hawks split the day after falling to Abilene Christian earlier, 10-9, despite jumping out to a 9-0 lead. In two games today, Baron went 5-for-8 with two home runs, four RBI, and three runs. Monmouth now stands at 2-2 on the season, and will face George Mason tomorrow morning.

NOTES AND QUOTES
-Baron put Monmouth ahead early against Abilene Christian, launching a two-run homer to left center in the bottom of the first. After freshman
Morgan Maziarz later stole third, she scored on a throwing error to give the Hawks a 3-0 advantage.
-Monmouth exploded for six runs in the bottom of the second, including the three-run home run from Holzman.
Chloe Howerth also hit an RBI single, while
Amber Wozniak continued her strong start to the season with an RBI single.
-With the Hawks leading 9-0, Abilene Christian scored five runs in the fourth, fifth, and sixth innings.
-The Wildcats scored four runs in the top of the seventh to tie it. In the top of the 8
th, they hit a sacrifice fly to win the game, 10-9.
-In game two, Baron once again opened the scoring with a first inning home run.
-Eastern Michigan made it even in the bottom of the third, bunting the runner home.
-Monmouth once again took the lead in the top of the fifth, as Wozniak rattled an RBI single to score Baron.
-Rosado gave the Hawks some breathing room in the top of the 6
th, hitting a two-RBI double to put Monmouth ahead 4-1.
-Eastern Michigan scored three runs in the bottom of the 6
th to tie the game at four.
-After Howerth was placed on second in extras, Baron brought her home with the single to center field.
-In the bottom of the 8
th, Eastern Michigan hit an RBI double to tie the game 5-5. Sophomore pitcher
Megan Stauffer got the Hawks out of a bases loaded jam to send it to top 9
th.
-Riley singled home Wozniak in the top of the 9
th to put Monmouth back on top, 6-5. Stauffer slammed the door in the bottom of the inning, forcing Eastern Michigan into a game-ending double play.
NUMBERS CRUNCH
-Baron already has three home runs in four games.
-Wozniak picked up where she left off yesterday, racking up two more hits and two RBI.

Katie Harrington was 5-for-10 from the plate with two runs on the day.

Tyranny Royster registered her first hit of the season in extras against EMU.
-Howerth leads the team with six hits and eight runs this year.
-Rosado ended 4-for-8 with a double, a run, and two RBI on the day.

UP NEXT
Monmouth will play one more game tomorrow, taking on George Mason at 9:00 AM. The Hawks will then be off until March 2 for George Mason's Patriot Classic.
