MADEIRA BEACH, FL – In the last game of Eastern Michigan's Madeira Beach Invitational, the Monmouth University softball team earned the win over George Mason on Sunday morning, 5-3. Sophomore
Kayla Rosado launched a three-run home run in the first inning, the first of her career, and the Hawks held on behind a strong performance from senior pitcher
Amanda Riley. Monmouth improved to 3-2 on the season, and will return to action on Friday, March 2 at George Mason's Patriot Classic.

NOTES AND QUOTES
-George Mason opened up the scoring in the first inning, hitting an RBI single to go ahead 1-0.
-Rosado sent her first career home run to center field, giving the Hawks the 3-1 lead in the bottom of the first.
-With Riley hitting in the first, she reached on an error by the shortstop, allowing sophomore
Sam Tomasetti to score. The Hawks led 4-1 after the first.
-In the bottom of the third, Tomasetti reached on an error. Pinch runner
Morgan Maziarz scored from second, putting Monmouth ahead 5-1.

Lilly Robles came in relief and was able to get the final two outs of the game, giving the Hawks the eventual 5-3 victory.
