WOMEN'S BASKETBALL FALLS TO PRINCETON

WEST LONG BRANCH, NJ – Fending off a Hawks second quarter run and pulling away in the third, Princeton defeated the Monmouth University women's basketball team on Tuesday night, 79-47. Monmouth brought the game to within five with 6:11 left in the second frame, but the Tigers outscored the Hawks 53-26 the rest of the way. Junior
Emani Clough matched a season-high 19 points in the loss, draining three shots from beyond the arc. Junior
Alexa Middleton added eight points and eight rebounds, including a perfect 4-4 to start the game. The Tigers went 15-16 from the free throw line during the contest, while the Hawks went just 1-3. The Blue & White drop to 3-6 on the season, and will host Navy next Wednesday at 7:00 PM.

"We had moments of competitiveness. We're just a little too sloppy, mainly with turnovers and transition defense. Take those out of the equation, and I think we're in the game. -Princeton opened the game with a 7-0 run, which was ended by a Clough three.
-By the end of the first quarter, the Tigers led 23-9. Princeton went 6-6 from the free throw line in the opening frame, while the Hawks didn't attempt a free throw.
-Monmouth went on a much-needed 8-0 run in the second quarter, cutting the deficit to 25-19.
-Princeton had a strong showing to close the second half, and went ahead by 13 at the break, 44-31.

Sierra Green drained a triple to open the second half, the Tigers went on a 7-0 run to take a 17-point lead. The Hawks were forced to call a timeout with 4:56 left in the third.
-The Tigers went on an 8-0 run to close the third quarter, and outscored Monmouth 15-6 in the frame. Heading into the fourth, Princeton led 59-37.
-Princeton kept its foot on the gas in the fourth, eventually taking the 32-point win.

-Clough went 8-16 from the floor, including 3-5 from deep.
-Green scored nine points in the loss, with all points coming on three-pointers.
