WOMEN’S SOCCER WINS NINTH STRAIGHT GAME

WEST LONG BRANCH, NJ – The Monmouth University women's soccer team scored cruised to its ninth consecutive victory with a 7-0 triumph over Iona on Senior night at Hesse Field on The Great Lawn.

The Hawks were led by Alli DeLuca's hat trick and Jazlyn Moya's two-goal effort as they won their ninth consecutive game.

Monmouth held a 1-0 halftime lead before scoring four times in the first 15 minutes after intermission. DeLuca put in her second goal 28 seconds into the period to spark the outburst before Dana Scheriff scored on a volley and Moya put home two, including a penalty kick to increase the lead to 6-0 in the 60th minute.

DeLuca scored three minutes later to complete her hat trick and A'Liah Moore added a late score to run the final total to 7-0.

- Monmouth's nine-game winning streak is its longest since the 1996 season when it won 10 in a row under the direction of Ken Van Schaack.
- The Hawks have outscored their opponents 31-2 during the nine-match winning streak.
- Monmouth finishes the season with 27 points in the MAAC standings. It is the fifth straight season Monmouth has reached 27 points.
- Monmouth also reached nine MAAC wins for the fifth straight year.
- Monmouth improved its six-year MAAC record to 53-4-3.
- Monmouth leads the all-time series against Iona 12-0-1, including five consecutive victories.
- The Hawks are now 7-1-1 at Hesse Field on The Great Lawn this season.
- Monmouth reached 14 wins for the third consecutive season.
- Monmouth has won 35 straight games when scoring the first goal of the game.
- Monmouth has used the same starting lineup for the entirety of its nine-game winning streak.
- Prior to the match, Monmouth celebrated its senior class in a pregame ceremony. Laura Dramis, Alli DeLuca, Jazlyn Moya, LeAnne Davis and Christina Balacco were celebrated for their contributions to the program.
 
NUMBERS CRUNCH
- Alli DeLuca registered the first hat trick of her career. The hat trick was the first since for a Monmouth player since Madie Gibson had three goals against Niagara on Oct. 8, 2016.
- DeLuca has a team-high eight goals in 2018 and 16 goals in her career.
- Jazlyn Moya scored her first two goals of the season. Moya now has five goals in her career after her first two-goal performance.
- Dana Scheriff increased her season total to six goals and she now has 16 points on the year. Scheriff's goal was the ninth of her career.
- Madie Gibson picked up two assists and now his six assists and 18 points this season. Gibson passed Mary Beth Byrnes and now ranks 11th in Monmouth history with 74 career points.
- A'Liah Moore scored the fourth goal of her freshman campaign, all of which have come against MAAC opposition.
- Lexie Palladino, Jazlyn Moya and LeAnne Davis each added assists. Davis now has 5 points in three-career games against Iona.
- As a team, Monmouth earned its 11th shutout of the season, the most since it had a program record 16 in 2013.
- Shots were 23-3 in favor of Monmouth in the contest, including a 17-1 shots on goal advantage. Monmouth took six corner kicks and Iona earned one.

The Hawks will host a semifinal match in the MAAC Tournament on Thursday, Nov. 1. Game time is set for 5 p.m. at Hesse Field on The Great Lawn. Ticket and broadcast information will be announced in the near future.
