TINTON FALLS, NJ – In its first conference match following its MAAC Championship a season ago, the Monmouth University men's tennis team swept Saint Peter's at the New Shrewsbury Racquet Club on Friday night, 7-0. The Hawks improved to 2-6 on the season after winning all six singles matches and all three doubles matches.
NOTES
-Sitting at #99 in the ITA's latest rankings, Nicola Pipoli handled Saint Peter's at No. 1, 6-1, 6-0.
-At No. 2, Przemyslaw Filipek also defeated the Peacocks by a score of 6-1, 6-0.
-Estrada narrowly won the first set (6-4) at No. 3, but finished the win with a 6-2 victory in the second set.
-Christian Viera and Vikrant Dahiya both had convincing wins on Friday night, as they both earned 6-1, 6-1 victories. Sam Bellersen also won at No. 6 by a score of 6-3, 6-2.
-During the doubles portion, the duo of Filipek and Gomez Estrada escaped with the 6-4 win, while Pipoli and Dahiya did not lose a game at 6-0. Viera partnered with Richard Chen, who ran away with the 6-1 win.
