ANNAPOLIS, MD – Using a 19-0 run in the second quarter to take a 41-14 halftime lead, Navy kept the foot on the gas and put the game away in the third quarter to defeat the Monmouth University women's basketball team on Thursday night, 73-49. Junior
Erica Balman matched her career-high of 10 points to go along with five rebounds, while sophomore
Adriana Zelaya also matched a career-high, scoring eight points on two three-pointers. Sophomore
Alexa Middleton picked up seven points and seven rebounds in the loss, while junior
McKinzee Barker registered seven points and three assists. The Hawks drop to 2-5 on the season and will travel to Robert Morris on Sunday.

-Navy took a 15-7 lead after the first quarter, as the Hawks shot just 2-11 from the floor and turned the ball over 11 times.
-After two straight Balman layups, the Hawks cut the deficit to 22-14, but Navy rattled off an 8-0 run to make it a 30-16 lead at the second quarter media timeout.
-The Midshipmen used a 19-0 run in the last 5:40 of the second quarter to take a 41-14 halftime lead.
-After Balman scored her sixth point on a layup to open the third quarter, Navy used a 9-0 run to take a 50-16 advantage.
-The Midshipmen used another run in the third quarter, this time 8-0, to take a 60-23 lead. Another Balman layup made it 60-25 heading into the fourth quarter.
-Monmouth outscored Navy in the fourth quarter by a 24-13 margin, but eventually dropped the 73-49 decision. Â
