RIVERDALE, NY – The Monmouth University men's soccer team was defeated in double overtime by Manhattan Saturday night, 1-0. After neither team scored a goal for the first 104 minutes of play, Manhattan's Ryan Shields collected the pass from Callum Carsley and finished. The Jaspers had the slight edge in shots during the contest at 13-11. Monmouth goalkeeper Bobby Edwards made four saves in the 105 minutes of game time. The Hawks look to bounce back against MAAC opponent Marist on Wednesday. Kickoff from Poughkeepsie, NY is scheduled for 7:00 PM.

-The team's battled back and forth for 90 minutes, but neither team could put one in the back of the net in regulation.
-In the first overtime, Monmouth's Geoffrey Schaefer sent a shot on goal, but it was saved by the keeper.
-Manhattan's Shields registered a shot on goal two minutes before his overtime winner, but it was stopped by Edwards.
-Carsley crossed to the center of the box in the 105^th minute, where Shields scored the game-winner to keep Manhattan undefeated in MAAC play.
 
NUMBERS CRUNCH
-The Hawks are 3-0-1 at home this season, but are 0-5-1 on the road. Four out of Monmouth's five road losses have been decided by one goal.
-Freshman Anes Mrkulic earned the first start of his career.
-Senior Jake Areman led the team with three shots and two shots on goal.
-Redshirt freshman John Antunes and Schaefer also registered shots on goal.

Monmouth will travel to conference opponent Marist on Wednesday night. The Red Foxes (5-7, 1-3 MAAC) also fell 1-0 in overtime tonight, as the Iona Gaels scored the late goal.
