Monmouth 2 (8-2-2, 5-0-0 MAAC)
Iona 0 (1-10-2, 0-4-1 MAAC)

NEW ROCHELLE, NY – The Monmouth University women's soccer team built a two-goal halftime lead and went on to defeat Iona by that margin on Wednesday afternoon at Mazzella Field.

Monmouth controlled the action throughout the contest and broke through in the 15th minute with a goal off a set piece. Madie Gibson's inswinging corner kick to the far post was met by LeAnne Davis' head and Monmouth took a 1-0 lead.

Gibson factored in Monmouth's second goal as well, by drawing a penalty kick less than three minutes after Davis' tally. Senior Miranda Konstantinides stepped up to the penalty spot and calmly doubled Monmouth's advantage by beating Iona goalie Tiffany Martinez.

Monmouth outshot Iona 28-2, and forced Martinez to make 12 saves for the Gaels. On the other end, Amanda Knaub made one stop and extended her shutout streak to six games.
