WOMEN'S SOCCER ADVANCES TO MAAC SEMIFINAL

FINAL SCORE
No. 1 Monmouth 1 (13-3-2)
No. 8 Niagara 0 (7-9-3)

LAKE BUENA VISTA, FL – Madie Gibson's goal in the 84th minute made the difference for the top-seeded Monmouth University women's soccer team as the Hawks knocked off No. 8 Niagara in the MAAC Quarterfinal on Sunday afternoon at the ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex.

The Hawks dictated the pace throughout the match and outshot Niagara 17-3 in the win, but needed Gibson's goal late in the second half to advance in the MAAC Tournament. Junior Jazlyn Moya sent a ball across the penalty area through a number of bodies, where Gibson finished the chance for the decisive score.

Sophomore goalie Amanda Knuab earned her MAAC leading 11th shutout of the season with two saves in goal for the Hawks.

NOTES & QUOTES
"It was a nice team goal and combination from the three forwards. We did not play our best, but good teams find a way to win and we were able to do that today."
– Head Coach Krissy Turner

"I think we just battled. Every player was going hard into tackles, every player wanted it today and we played a physical game. The back line stayed together and played well together today. We've had a different back line for most of the season and today it was nice for us to come together and play well."
- Graduate defender Gabby Cuevas
