Colin Stripling scored his team-leading fourth goal of the season in the 68
th minute, but Fairfield equalized in the 82
nd minute and scored with 1:13 left in the second overtime to edge the Monmouth University men's soccer team on Wednesday, 2-1. With the loss, the Hawks drop to 2-5-1 in the conference and will need two wins against Quinnipiac and Niagara to have a chance at a tournament berth. The Hawks are 4-1-1 at home this season. The team also needs an Iona loss in its last regular season game as well as Marist not winning more than one of its last two games. Siena currently holds the tiebreaker over Monmouth, and with seven points each, the Saints will have to lose one of their last two contests.
NOTES AND QUOTES
-Neither team found the back of the net in the first half, as Monmouth led the shot battle, 5-4.

Jake Areman sent in a cross, the ball hit off two Fairfield players and popped up in the air, where the redshirt senior headed it home.

nd minute, Fairfield sent a dangerous shot towards net.
Bobby Edwards got a piece of it, but the rebound fell in front of him and the Stags tapped it in for the equalizer.
-After neither team found the back of the net for the last eight minutes of regulation and the first overtime, Fairfield's Austin Capasso crossed a ball that made its way through multiple defenders and found the foot of Ryan Ruff, who scored the game-winner in the 109th minute.
