TEANECK, NJ – The Monmouth University women's soccer team secured a two-goal halftime lead it never relinquished and ultimately defeated Fairleigh Dickinson by that margin on Wednesday night at University Stadium.
Rachael Ivanicki (Colts Neck, NJ / Colts Neck) opened the scoring for Monmouth in the 31st minute when she followed up a rebound of her own shot that hit the post and fired a left-footed one-timer just under the crossbar.
Madie Gibson (Cape May, NJ / Lower Cape May) then doubled the lead with 31 seconds remaining in the half when she scored on a shot inside the far post following a run down the left side.
Amanda Knaub (Enola, PA / Trinity) made three saves to earn a shutout victory in net in the Hawks' non-conference finale.
