PRINCETON EDGES WOMEN'S SOCCER IN DOUBLE OVERTIME

FINAL SCORE – 2OT
Princeton 2 (6-0-0)
Monmouth 1 (2-3-1)

WEST LONG BRANCH, NJ – Princeton's Mimi Asom scored with 2:17 remaining in double overtime to lift the visiting Tigers over the Monmouth University women's soccer team on Sunday afternoon at Hesse Field on the Great Lawn.

Each team scored once in the first half, Monmouth on a goal by Rachelle Ross (Mt. Laurel, NJ / Lenape) after she ran onto a long ball by Julie Spracklin (Easthampton, NJ / Rancocas Valley) and poked it past Princeton goalkeeper Natalie Grossi and then the Tigers answered less than two minutes later. Princeton's first goal was a right-footed attempt that beat Monmouth goalie Amanda Knaub (Enola, PA / Trinity) to the near side.

Each team had opportunities that hit the crossbar, including two shots by the Hawks that hit the woodwork, before Asom ultimately scored the sudden-victory goal.
