EARLY GOAL PUSHES DREXEL PAST WOMEN'S SOCCER

FINAL SCORE

Drexel 1 (3-1-0)
Monmouth 0 (0-2-1)

PHILADELPHIA –
Drexel's Vanessa Kara scored 1:08 after the opening whistle to push Drexel past the Monmouth University women's soccer team on Sunday afternoon at Vidas Field.

The decisive early goal came on a breakaway after Kara intercepted a pass and was able to get around oncoming Monmouth goalkeeper Amanda Knaub (Enola, PA / Trinity) and put a shot into the back of the Hawks' net.

Monmouth registered 10 shots, three apiece by Alexis McTamney (Bordentown, NJ / Bordentown Regional) and Jazlyn Moya (Avenel, NJ / Colonia) but was unable to beat Drexel goalkeeper Christina Ogunsami, who made five saves.
