MEN'S BASKETBALL COLLECTS THREE MAJOR AWARDS

ALBANY, NY– The Monmouth men's basketball team collected three major awards on Friday evening, as King Rice was named MAAC Coach of the Year, Justin Robinson (Lake Katrine, NY/Kingston) earned Player of the Year honors and Micah Seaborn (Fort Worth, TX/Prime Prep Academy) picked up Rookie of the Year accolades.

Rice becomes the third coach in program history and the first since Dave Calloway in 2000-01 to be named the league's coach of the year. He has coached MU to a program-best 25 wins and 17 league victories, including a 10-1 mark at home and a nation-leading 13 road tallies. He secured Monmouth's first regular season title in 11 years last weekend, and will open tonight's MAAC Tournament as the top seed. Wayne Szoke was Monmouth's first Coach of the Year recipient, doing so in the 1987-88 season.

Robinson is the third Player of the Year winner in program history and the first since Blake Hamilton in 2004-05. He finished third in the league in scoring with 20.2 points per game and became the second Hawk ever to top 600 points in a season. He led the conference with 65 steals and started all 31 games in leading the Blue and White to a conference regular season title. He was a unanimous choice for the All-MAAC First Team, the second straight year to be named First Team. Rahsaan Johnson was MU's first Player of the Year, doing so in 2000-01.

Seaborn is the fourth Rookie of the Year in Monmouth history and the first since Jhamar Youngblood in 2006-07. He was second on the team with 13 points per game shooting 43% in his first season and 85% from the foul line with 62 assists. He was named to the All-MAAC Third Team and the All-Rookie team, the only freshman to earn a spot on one of the top three teams across the league. He is the first Hawk to be named to an All-Rookie Team since Dion Nesmith in the NEC in 2011-12, and joins Youngblood, Alpha Bangura (98-99) and Alex Blackwell (89-90) as the only Rookie of the Year choices in program history.

Top-seeded Monmouth takes on #8 Rider tonight in the MAAC Quarterfinals. Tip is set for 7:00 p.m. on ESPN3.
