WEST LONG BRANCH, NJ – In its first ever meeting, the Monmouth University field hockey team built a three-goal lead within the first 10 minutes of regulation and never looked back in an eventual 9-0 win over LIU Brooklyn, Sunday morning at LIU Field.
Junior Julie Laszlo (Rotterdam, Netherlands/Rotterdams Montessori Lyceum) led the way with five points on the afternoon following her third-straight multi-goal game and second-consecutive five-point outing. Classmate Meg Donahue (Wyomissing, PA/Berks Catholic) scored twice, while senior Casey Hanna (Seaville, NJ/Ocean City) and junior Mallory Kusakavitch (Pittston, PA/Holy Redeemer) both scored and provided two assists as the trio each finished the afternoon with four points. Sophomore Kelly Hanna (Seaville, NJ/Ocean City [Rutgers]) scored and added a helper to earn three points while Georgia Garden Bachop (Dunedin, New Zealand/Queen Margaret) and Josephine van der Hoop (Rotterdam, Netherlands/Wolfert van Borselem) each found the back of the cage, while Gab Girardi (Roseland, NJ/West Essex) recorded an assist to cap off the Hawks' score sheet.
Junior Christen Piersanti (Bridgewater, NJ/Bridgewater-Raritan) was not forced to make a save en route to her seventh shutout of the season and 11th of her career.

- Monmouth outshot LIU Brooklyn, 20-1. The Hawks had 13 of their shots reach goal, while the Blackbirds' lone attempt, which took place in the second half, went wide of cage.
