WEST LONG BRANCH, NJ – The Monmouth University women's soccer team won its fifth consecutive game and remained unbeaten in Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference play with a convincing 5-0 victory over Niagara on Saturday afternoon at Hesse Field on The Great Lawn.
Madie Gibson (Cape May, NJ / Lower Cape May) registered her first-career hat trick, while Alexis McTamney (Bordentown, NJ / Bordentown) and Sophie Centi (Churchville, MD / The John Carroll School) added first-half goals to help Monmouth jump out to a 3-0 lead at the break.
Gibson tacked on two more goals after intermission to finish the scoring for Monmouth as it earned its fifth consecutive shutout win. Freshman goalkeeper Amanda Knaub (Enola, PA / Trinity) made two saves to preserve the clean sheet for the Blue and White.
