BUFFALO –
The Monmouth University women's soccer team captured its fourth consecutive Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference Regular Season Championship after defeating Canisius 3-0 on Saturday afternoon at Demske Sports Complex.

By winning the regular-season title, the Hawks earned the right to host the 2016 MAAC Women's Soccer Tournament at Hesse Field on The Great Lawn on Nov. 4 & 6.

The Hawks got on the board quickly when Rachael Ivanicki (Colts Neck, NJ / Colts Neck [Bryant]) set up Madie Gibson (Cape May, NJ / Lower Cape May) in the sixth minute.

Gibson continued to be a force offensively as she drew a penalty kick for the Hawks in the 65th minute. Julie Spracklin (Easthampton, NJ / Rancocas Valley) converted the penalty to make it 2-0, before Gibson fed Alexis McTamney (Bordentown, NJ / Bordentown) for another goal a minute later. McTamney's left-footed chip beat Canisius goalkeeper Alana Rossi just under the crossbar.

It is a credit to our players for giving us nothing but their best every day to win the regular season. Also, it is a tremendous accomplishment for our senior class to win four regular season titles.”
