Recently, Nicki Gross (MBA '13), a former graduate student manager for the Monmouth University Basketball program during the 2012-13 season, was promoted by the Iowa Energy of the NBA D-League to the position of assistant coach, making her the only female assistant in the league.
Gross, who was a member of head coach King Rice's staff said, "I am very excited about the opportunity and thankful to both the Memphis Grizzlies and Iowa Energy for believing in me. Working for the Monmouth staff prepared me well for my job in the D-League, and I can't wait to get started with my new role with the Energy this year."
"I am very excited about this opportunity for Nicki," stated Rice, who is entering his fifth season at the helm of the Hawks' program. "Nicki was a great worker for us and I think she is a person that is going to continue to grow in this business and the sky is the limit. We were very fortunate to have her on our staff for a year. She brought positive energy and a wealth of knowledge of reaching basketball players."
