ORLANDO, Fla. – Junior Jessica Kavanagh (Point Pleasant, N.J./Point Pleasant Boro) posted a team-low 82 to lead the Monmouth University women's golf team in the second round of the 2015 Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference Championships, held at Disney's par-72 Magnolia Golf Course. The Hawks carded 333 in the second 18 holes and held position on the leaderboard in sixth.
Siena climbed within six shots of University at Albany on day two after firing 310. The Great Danes' posted 320 in the second round, good for a two-day score of 623 to enter Championship Sunday on top of the leaderboard, while Quinnipiac sits 10 strokes off the lead after compiling 316 on Saturday. Fairfield (635) posted 319, good for third, while Dayton (643) suffered the biggest drop of the day, falling three spots to fifth with 327, 12 strokes in front of the Blue and White.
Kavanagh, who recorded par in six of the front-nine holes, jumped up two spots to 13th with her 82, good for a two-day score of 161. Rebecca Gaona (Howell, N.J./Howell) sits three strokes behind Kavanagh after firing 83, while Faith Garcia (Stamford, Conn./Staples) and Kaitlin Clancy (Smithtown, N.Y./Smithtown West) both enter the clubhouse with 84. Despite ending the round with 90, Sarah Kokotajlo (Ewing, N.J./Ewing) sits third on the Hawks' card with 167, two shots in front of Garcia and four shots ahead of Clancy.
