MIDDLETOWN, N.J. – In its final tune-up before the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference Championships, the Monmouth University women's golf team finished third at the Hawk Quad Match behind freshman Sarah Kokotajlo's (Ewing, N.J./Ewing) 80, Wednesday afternoon at the par-72 Navesink Country Club. The Blue and White shot 335 as a team, nine strokes behind Hartford which took the top spot carding 326.
Highlighted by an eagle on the par-four, 432-yard second hole, Kokotajlo duplicated 40 on both the front and back nine to lead the Blue and White and earn a share of second overall. Classmate Faith Garcia (Stamford, Conn./Staples) shaved off four strokes from her front-nine 43 to finish the event with 82, good for a piece of fourth, while junior Rebecca Gaona (Howell, N.J./Howell) finished the round of 18 with 86. Freshmen Kaitlin Clancy (Smithtown, N.Y./Smithtown West) and Erin DiDonato (Hammonton, N.J./Hammonton) each enter the clubhouse with 87. Playing as individuals, Ashley Navin (Ware, Mass./Quabbin Regional) registered 84 and Jessica Kavanagh (Point Pleasant, N.J./Point Pleasant Boro) inked 88.
Hartford finished seven shots in front of Fairfield, while Monmouth completed the round two strokes in front of Fairleigh Dickinson.
Monmouth opens up play at the MAAC Championships on Friday, April 24th.
