HAWKS FALL TO BUCKNELL 2-0 ON FRIDAY

Box Score

WEST LONG BRANCH, N.J.
- The Monmouth University women's soccer team dropped a non-conference match to visiting Bucknell University in a first-ever meeting between the two schools, 2-0, on Friday evening on Hesse Field on The Great Lawn.

Monmouth, which had its 10-game home win streak snapped in the defeat, falls to 1-2 overall, while the Bison improve to 1-1 on the year.

Bucknell cracked the scoreboard late in the first half when Kendall Ham received a pass from Madison Loos on a break, and beat a diving Monmouth goalkeeper Nicole D'Agostino (Clarendon Hills, Ill./Hinsdale Central/Pitt) to the far post in the 41st minute.

The Bison doubled their advantage in the 83rd minute when Kendall Ham's cross to the line was carried into the net by her twin sister Jackie Ham for the 2-0 lead.

Monmouth held a 13-6 edge in shots, including 9-2 in the second half, while Bucknell had a 9-6 advantage in corner kick opportunities. D'Agostino made three saves for the Hawks, while Jessie Ashworth made five stops for the Bison, including a pair of diving saves.

Monmouth freshman forward Rachelle Ross (Mount Laurel, N.J./Lenape), in her first career start, attempted a team-high five shots, three of which were on frame.

Monmouth returns to action on Monday, September 1, when the Hawks travel to in-state rival Seton Hall University for a 7:00 p.m. match in South Orange.
