WOMEN'S SOCCER POSTS 1-0 WIN AT SETON HALL

Box Score

SOUTH ORANGE, N.J.
- The Monmouth University women's soccer team earned a 1-0 victory at Seton Hall University on Monday evening, as sophomore forward Julie Spracklin (Eastampton, N.J./Rancocas Valley Regional) tallied the game-winner in the 39th minute for the Hawks, who have now won two straight versus the Pirates.

Monmouth, which last won at Seton Hall in 2006, registered the game-winning goal when senior back Kristen Brett's (Hebron, Conn./RHAM) corner kick service found Spracklin for a volley to the far post, her fifth career goal. The assist was Brett's first career point for the Blue & White.

"A terrific team effort tonight for 90 minutes allowed us to get a victory and a shutout on the road," stated head coach Krissy Turner, who picked up her 190th career win in the process.

In the 80th minute, Seton Hall was awarded a penalty kick, which sailed wide off the foot of Frankie Maier, preserving the 1-0 lead for the Hawks.

Monmouth outshot the Pirates 19-7 in the match, including 10-2 in the opening stanza, forcing sophomore goalkeeper Illissa Blackshear to make a career-high eight saves for the Hall. Nicole D'Agostino (Clarendon Hills, Ill./Hinsdale Central/Pitt) made on stop for the Hawks in her second shutout for MU.

MU also held a 6-1 edge in corner kick opportunities on the night.

Monmouth returns to action on Thursday night, September 4, when the Hawks travel to NJIT for a non-conference match with the Highlanders at 7:00 p.m., at Lubetkin Field.
