GRADUATED NESMITH TO TRANSFER TO HOFSTRA

WEST LONG BRANCH, N.J. - Monmouth University graduate Dion Nesmith (Union, N.J./Union [Northeastern]) has decided to transfer to Hofstra University for his final season of eligibility. Nesmith, who joined the Hawks' basketball program in the fall of 2010 after Northeastern University dropped its football program, played two seasons for Monmouth.

"I am very excited that Dion graduated, and has an opportunity to play at Hofstra," stated head coach King Rice. "He is a sharp young man and we wish him nothing but the best."

Nesmith, who was forced to sit during the 2010-11 season due to an NCAA ruling, earned a Northeast Conference All-Rookie Team selection following his first season in the Blue and White, and scored 532 points (8.4 ppg average), during his two campaigns. Nesmith also recorded 171 rebounds, 117 assists and 77 steals, while starting 60 out of the 63 games played.

In the spring of 2013, Monmouth Men's Basketball posted a team grade point average of 3.224, which marked the highest GPA in program history.

"We had the best GPA in the history of Monmouth Basketball this semester," added Rice. "We were also fortunate to graduate all six of our seniors this year, which puts us at a total of 10 graduates in two years."
