MONMOUTH REGISTERS STRONG APR NUMBERS

WEST LONG BRANCH, N.J. - The NCAA recently released its annual Academic Progress Rate (APR) scores, and Monmouth University was highlighted by five perfect scores during the 2010-11 academic year, while the football program was cited by the Football Championship Subdivision Athletics Directors Association (FCS ADA) as the recipient of its APR Award, as the Hawks attained the highest APR among Northeast Conference football teams.

During the 2010-11 academic year, Monmouth field hockey, women's cross country, men's tennis, women's tennis (seven straight years with a score of 1000) and men's golf each recorded a perfect score of 1000.

The multi-year rate takes into account the APR scores for each sport between the years of 2007-08 and 2010-11.

Amongst NEC institutions in the multi-year rate scores, eight of Monmouth's varsity teams ranked in the top-four of the conference, while baseball, men's basketball and football were all above the national average.

The APR provides a real-time look at a team's academic success each semester by tracking the academic progress of each student-athlete on scholarship. The APR accounts for eligibility and retention, and provides a measure of each team's academic performance.
