WEST LONG BRANCH, N.J.- Monmouth
fifth-year senior tight end Tyler George (Berkeley Heights, N.J./Governor
Livingston) and rising sophomore Julian Hayes (Middletown, Conn./Xavier/The Hun
School) have been named to the College Football Performance Awards (CFPA) watch
lists for their respective positions.
George was named to the tight end watch list coming off back to back 36
reception seasons. He has started 33 consecutive games for the Hawks, with 868
receiving yards which is 10th all-time. The 6'-5", 245 lbs George
was one of two Monmouth players to make a reception in every contest last
season. George led the Hawks in catches and reception yardage as a redshirt
sophomore in 2010.
Earlier this month Hayes was named to the running back watch list. The freshman is coming off a stellar campaign
in which he was named as a Jerry Rice Award finalist, while amassing 14
touchdowns and 805 yards. A College Sports Journal All-Freshman selection,
Hayes was named the starter in week four and finished with a pair of 100-yard
rushing games. His 14 rushing scores are the fourth most in a single season in
school history.
The College Football Performance Awards have released preseason watch lists for
Quarterback, Wide Receiver, Running Back and Tight End so far. The remaining
