EASTON, Pa.- The Monmouth field hockey team fell as the Lafayette Leopards clawed their way to victory Wednesday night with four unanswered goals, dropping the Hawks 4-0 in Easton, Pa. With the loss, the Hawks drop to 0-7 on the season, losing five out of seven by one goal.
Lafayette opened up action 32 minutes into the game with Maggie Condon scoring an unassisted goal in the center near the top of the circle. After halftime, Lafayette poured on the scoring with a corner goal from Kelly Hilovsky and shot from the left side by Carolyn Cabrey four minutes and twenty four minutes into the second half.
Adding on an insurance goal with nine minutes left to play was Maggie Condon for her second of the game assisted by Jaclyn DiSanti ? Hawks assistant coach Jill DiSanti's younger sister.
The Hawks were lead by senior Enza Mazza (Oceanport, N.J./Shore Regional) who posted a team-high four shots on goal. Sophomore Nora Bosmans (Oakhurst, N.J./Ocean Township) also tallied a shot on the day.
Melissa Katz (Tinton Falls, N.J./Monmouth Regional) posted two saves on the day for the Hawks in net.The Leopards owned both the shots on goal (13-5) and corner (10-3) advantages for the game.
The Hawks will continue their search for their season's first win as they travel to Davidson, N.C to take on Appalachian State this Saturday, September 27th with the game slated for 1:00 p.m.
