WEST LONG BRANCH, N.J. - In a continued effort to give back to the community that supports it annually, the Monmouth University men's basketball program will host its third annual “Autism Awareness Day”, on Sunday, December 21, in Boylan Gym, when the Hawks host Lehigh University at 1 p.m.
On the Sunday before Christmas, Monmouth aims to promote awareness for autism, which effects numerous children in our own area.
“This is a great way to promote a worthy cause,” stated Monmouth head coach Dave Calloway. “It is also a great way to bring the community together, especially at this time of year.”
“Our student-athletes are always generous with their time,” added Vice President and Director of Athletics, Dr. Marilyn McNeil. “They understand how to give back and the importance of such giving. In the end, they receive so much more than what they have given from these experiences.”
Monmouth will host a clinic for children at 11 a.m., followed by a pizza party in the Rebecca Stafford Student Center. The package also includes a ticket to the game at 1 p.m. (Form available for download below).
For more information about the event, please contact Monmouth University Athletics at (732) 263-5833. Also, please wear orange to show your support for Autism Awareness.
