2OT | Monmouth advances on PK's 4-2

WEST LONG BRANCH, N.J. – Eryk Dymora made four saves on the day and added a penalty kick goal which advanced the No. 2 Monmouth University men's soccer team to the Coastal Athletic Association (CAA) Championship match. The Hawks battled No. 6 Elon University to a 0-0 tie through a double overtime contest and advanced on penalty kicks, 4-2.

Both periods of regulation were evenly matched between the two squads.

Elon put two shots on goal in the match's first 10 minutes, but Dymora was up to the challenge and made the saves. Monmouth got off two shots on goal in the first 45 minutes, but both were turned away by Tomasz Wrblewski.

The second half went much the way the first did as both teams had their chances, but neither was able to convert.

Elon recorded the only shot of the first overtime session, but it sailed high.

Dymora stopped Elon's only shot of the second overtime while Ben Zakowski's shot was off target.

Zakowski got the Hawks off to an early advantage in the shootout as he converted his attempt to start. After Elon hit the post on its first chance, Adrian Nesheim Roseth put his in for a Hawks' 2-0 advantage.

Elon made its second chance to make it 2-1 and the third round of the shootout saw both teams miss. Olle Brorsson made it 3-1 Hawks to start the fourth round, but Elon followed with a make and it was 3-2.

Dymora then stepped to the line and drilled his chance to send the Hawks to the CAA Championship.
