Monmouth University Women’s Basketball Head Coach Cait Wetmore announced the hiring of Alex Frazier as the program’s new assistant coach on May 20, 2024.

Frazier works with the Monmouth guards, and helped mentor one of the best seasons in programs history by Damaris Rodriguez. Rodriguez earned All-CAA First Team, the first Hawk to earn conference first team honors since 2009, and All-Metropolitan Honorable Mention, the first MU selection to an All-MET team since 2002. Rodriguez ranked in the top-10 in the CAA in scoring, assists and field goal percentage, and tied the school's single-game assist record with 13 at UNCW. Guard Kemari Reynolds also contributed, finishing second on the team with 55 assists and shooting 43.8% from three.

Frazier joined the Hawks after serving as an assistant coach at Appalachian State for the previous two seasons. During her time with the Mountaineers, Frazier was a key member of a staff that won 28 games including a pair in the Sun Belt Tournament. She brings expertise in recruiting, scouting, player development, and community service initiatives.

Before her time in Boone, North Carolina, Frazier spent a season each as a graduate assistant, assistant director of basketball operations, and director of recruiting at East Carolina University. As a player for the Pirates from 2015-19, Frazier served as a three-year captain, ECU’s Defensive Player of the Year in 2018, and was the team MVP in 2019. She finished her collegiate career with 112 games played and is just one of 13 players in school history to lead the team in assists during multiple seasons.

The Lawrenceville, Georgia native graduated from ECU in 2018 with a bachelor’s degree as a health fitness specialist. She later completed a master’s degree in sports management in 2020.
