Former Texas A&M standout and graduate assistant Jami Lobpries begins her second season as an assistant softball coach at Monmouth University in 2010. She is a former member of the Philadelphia Force of the National Pro Fastpitch league, and currently plays with the Tennessee Diamonds.
"We are very excited to have someone of Jami's caliber here," said Monmouth Head Softball Coach Louie Berndt. "Her past experiences at the level she's played at, winning conference tournaments and at the Regional and Super Regional levels, as well as playing in the College World Series and for the Philadelphia Force, will help raise the bar with our current student-athletes to get us to where we want to be at the end of the season."
Lobpries comes to MU after serving as a graduate assistant with the Aggies in 2009. The Wharton, Texas native is a 2008 graduate of Texas A&M, where she starred on the diamond for the perennial Big 12-power Aggies. At Monmouth, she will be responsible for the development of the infielders and outfielders, as well as working with the hitters.
While at Texas A&M, she helped lead the team to the Big 12 Regular Season Championship in 2005 and 2008 and made four trips to the NCAA Regionals, including a National Runner-Up finish as a senior. In her tenure, the Aggies won the Big 12 Tournament Championship in 2008, made three appearances in the Super Regionals and earned back-to-back trips to the Women's College World Series (2007, 2008).
An All-Big 12 selection while with the Aggies, Lobpries was a three-time All-Academic Big 12 honoree, as well as being named to the Women's College World Series All-Tournament Team in 2008. She is also a four-time recipient of the Verizon Scholar-Athlete award and was also named to the Big 12 All-Tournament Team in 2006 while with the Aggies.
