Jim Koerner is the newest addition to the Monmouth coaching staff, as he the ranks as an assistant coach for the 2004 season. Along with the everyday operation of the baseball program, Koerner will focus on the Hawks? hitters and infielders.
Koerner enjoyed a four-year playing career at St. John Fisher from 1993-1997 and became the first player in school history to sign a pro contract, as he dressed for the Richmond Roosters of the Independent Frontier League in 1998.
No stranger to coaching, Koerner comes to West Long Branch after a successful three-year stint at Medaille College, where in 2003 he earned North East Athletic Conference Coach of the Year honors after he led his squad to a top-5 turnaround in Division III baseball from the previous season. Koerner was also the head coach at the Belgium Open in the summer of 2003 and skippered in the Australian Youth Games.
