Hamlin previously spent two seasons as a graduate assistant at Springfield College, and spent his time helping with recruiting, game scheduling, practice planning and hitting and catching instruction.

Hamlin played collegiately at Seton Hall, and was a Second Team All-Big East selection in 2014 after hitting .290 with seven doubles, two home runs and 26 runs batted in. He was also a 2014 All-NJCBA First Team choice, and was named to the Johnny Bench Award Watch List as a senior.
Hamlin played scholastically locally at Christian Brothers Academy, and helped lead team to Sectional Championship in 2008 and State Championship in 2009.
