Dan McMurtry, a 2002 gradute of the University of Louisiana-Lafayette, joins the Monmouth baseball coaching staff as the pitching coach for the Hawks. In his first season in West Long Branch, McMurtry will serve as a mentor to the young pitching corps, as well as handle recruiting for the Monmouth Hawks baseball team. He comes to the Jersey Shore from Louisiana-Lafayette, where he was a three-time All-Academic Sun Belt Conference pitcher. McMurtry also served as a graduate assistant coach during the 2003 and 2004 seasons for the Ragin' Cajuns.

A native of Cheyenne, Wyoming, McMurtry helped lead the Ragin? Cajuns to the NCAA Tournament in 2002 after playing his first two seasons at Howard Community College. While at Howard C.C., McMurtry received the Most Distinguished Student Athlete Award and at Louisiana-Lafayette he won the award for General Studies Graduate of the Year, and was a finalist for graduate of the year.

McMurtry currently resides in West End, N.J.
