ANNAPOLIS, Md. – Sophomore
Emilia Julin won the Flight C consolation bracket final to highlight a solid performance by the Monmouth University women's tennis team at the season-opening Bill and Sandra Moore Invitational hosted by the Naval Academy.
Julin went 3-1 in the Flight C bracket for the Hawks. After falling in her opening match of the weekend, Julin went 3-0 fighting her way through the consolation bracket. Julin posted wins over Naomi Feltman from Mary Washington (6-2, 6-4), Olivia Fermo from Navy (by retirement) and Evelyn Snyder of Mary Washington (6-4, 6-1).
In Flight B action, junior
Faith Sadgrove picked up a win in consolation quarterfinal action with a 2-6, 6-0, 10-3 victory over Natalie Kim of Mary Washington. Sadgrove fell in the consolation semifinals to Alba Benedito of Delaware State. Fellow junior
Pavitra Parikh also competed in the flight with a 0-2 mark.
In Flight D action, senior
Elle Catanzarite sent her first match of the weekend to a third set tiebreaker against Skye Yonehara of Lehigh before ultimately falling. She bounced back with a win over Madeleine Holman of Mary Washington in the consolation quarterfinals before ultimately bowing out in the consolation semifinals.
In other Flight D action, freshman
Brielle Quaye lost her first match of the tournament but rallied for a win over Abiela Wang of Mary Washington in in the consolation quarterfinals. She ultimately fell to Audrey Yvana Mengue of Delaware State in the consolation semifinals.
In Flight E action, sophomore
Jillian Gray went 0-2 for the Hawks.
The doubles action was highlighted by Catanzarite and Gray's win over Emily Tharpe and Olivia Geoghegan of Mary Washington in Flight C play.
Monmouth returns home to make its 2026-27 debut on Tuesday, Sept. 22 when it hosts Lafayette at 4 pm.Â
